Emotional Contagion & Implicit v Explicit Leadership

Our fifth OLEVI Outstanding Leadership in Education session took place on Wednesday. Anne led a creative discussion on Implicit v Explicit leadership models. Much has been written on this area, but the basic premise is that we are all on a continuum – some of us respond best to explicit leadership, whilst others will grow from more implicit management. Tee (2015) in particular, writes about the need to understand further the important role of ’emotional contagion’ within organisations. Tee suggests that if we all understood better our role in triggering emotions and behaviours in others, then our organisations would be more reflective, and perhaps healthier, as a result. Our next session will be focused on coaching and wisdom accessing questions. If you are interested in joining the OLEVI cohort next year, then let either myself or Anne know.
