Another great session today with our learning partners. Our students spent time with us reflecting on what constitutes great learning. Emerging from our collective work are the broad themes of engagement, challenge and enjoyment. Check out the students’ Venn diagrams and diamond nines from today’s session below.
An interesting thread coming from the students today was the importance of trusting, supportive interactions between students and teachers. This correlates well to Hattie’s notion of teacher credibility (effect size 0.9) and teacher-student relationships (effect size 0.72). Also interesting was the importance of clear teacher explanation to our students (effect size 0.75). Learning variety was also something our students valued.
These sessions will be used to reshape our learning and teaching policy here at the college. More information to follow…
